Dr. David Pearce Steps Down as Chief at ZSFG

David Pearce, MD, Professor of Medicine, has stepped down as Chief of the UCSF Division of Nephrology at ZSFG to focus his energy on research. Dr. Pearce’s impactful science seeks to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying hormone-regulated ion transport, particularly on signaling mechanisms in kidney tubules and their relation to homeostasis and kidney disease. Over an 18 year tenure, Dr. Pearce recruited stellar faculty to ZSFG, improved the reach of the inpatient, outpatient, dialysis and transplant services for patients at ZSFG, and grew the division’s presence in teaching and research programs.
